I am finally able to cross off the first goal on my list. This is a huge accomplishment. My dream was always to finish college but I never could see how I would manage to juggle Andrew, school, and work. My mom is the one who finally told me to go to school full time and I could live with her while I was going to school and she would take care of all the expenses. I was doing great and was so happy to see my dream of finishing school finally within my reach.
In March 2008, I hit a bump in the road. I found out I was pregnant with Aidan. As much as I love Aidan, happiness was not what I was feeling when I saw the two lines on my pregnancy test. I had dropped out of college when I found out I was pregnant with Andrew and I was determined that this time I would not repeat the mistakes I made as a single young mother. This time I was determined that for BOTH my children, I needed to stay focused on school. Once again, my mother came through for me and never complained about the fact that I added yet another mouth to feed to our household. For all her faults (and my friends know what I'm talking about), it would have taken me a lot longer to accomplish this dream if it weren't for her. I'm also thankful that I was blessed with such a good baby boy. I don't know how I would have survived nursing school if Aidan had been as wild as Andrew at his age (Mommy loves you, Andrew!). Thank you to Andrew for being such an understanding son.
I'm also thankful to all my friends who supported me throughout my journey. My best friends never doubted that I could do it and were always a great help by watching Aidan when I needed to study (Thank you, Jeannette and Elba!). I also want to thank my friend, Derek, for always believing in me. I also made some great friends on Babycenter.com. We shared the journey of our Nov 08 pregnancies and in the process became great friends. They were and still are a source of support and motivation. Finally, I'm grateful for the friends I have made in nursing school. Thank you Eva, Norma, Robin, and all my other nursing school friends for keeping me sane in the crazy world of nursing school. A big thank you to Norma and Robin for also being there when I needed help with Aidan!!
I had my graduation on December 16th, 2010. I'm proud to say that both my boys were there to see me walk across that stage.

#15 - Completed!
I have been wanting a new camera for a long time. I wasn't happy with the quality of my pictures that I was taking with my point and shoot camera. The plan was to either wait until I was working or until income tax time to spend the money on a DSLR camera. However, I really felt that with my graduation and Christmas coming up that now would be a good time for a better camera. I'm really happy that I did. I love it! I can't wait to learn more about photography so that I can make the most of my new camera. I can easily see this becoming my new addiction. I'm already counting down until I can afford a new camera bag and another lens.

#100 - Completed!
I bought a new tv back in March. I never took it out of the box until today since I didn't have a place to put it. Last month I finally found a tv stand with a mount that I like. It's hard with 3 kids in the house to put anything together. With all three kids gone today, I decided today was the day. It took longer than I thought it would but it's done and the tv is mounted. I still need to call Directv tomorrow to put in a connection in the room we want it in.

#23 - Completed!
I picked up my glasses. I made sure I took my contacts off tonight and put them on. It feels weird after not wearing glasses for literally years. They will take some getting used to. I only plan on using them at home at night since I don't like how I look in glasses. Here's a picture of me wearing them.

#22 - Completed!
I went to the eye doctor and had my yearly exam. My eyes had been blurry for a few months so I knew I needed a new prescription. I'm always so surprised by how much things cost these days. Without any vision insurance, I paid $90 for an exam. This included a prescription for both contacts and glasses. Then, I looked for the cheapest eyeglasses and ordered them. They came out to $140. This may not sound like a lot of money to some people but for a broke nursing student living off of student loans it's a lot! I still have to order my contact lenses. They run about $40 a box and I need 2 boxes since I have a different strength on each eye. Oh well, at least I can see clearly again.
Even though, getting eyeglasses is #23 of my list, I'm not going to cross it off until I pick them up next week.

Welcome to my journey
Welcome to my blog about my 101 things to do in 1001 days. My journey ends on May 13th, 2013.
Some of these will be things I have been wanting to do for a long time. Some will be everyday things to improve my quality of life. I'm always striving to become a better person and mom.
Thank you for taking this journey with me.
